Nickel Composite Ceramic Coating
At Nickel Composite Coatings, Inc., we offer nickel composite ceramic coatings for aluminum, iron, and steel substrates. Composite coating includes ceramic materials silicon carbide, and hexagonal boron nitride that are impregnated in a nickel phosphorous matrix. These coatings are ductile and provide a hard, lubricous, wear and abrasion resistant surface with a thickness that averages between 5 and 300 microns, depending on the material and application. Nickel composite coatings are used throughout the aerospace, automotive, and small engine industries to improve system performance and increase component life. Since its development, these coatings have achieved prominence in their application on 2- stroke reciprocating engine cylinder bores and pistons. The usage of the coatings has extended to 4 –stroke and diesel engines as well as on certain piston rings applications.
Prior to coating, all parts are thoroughly cleaned in a chemical washing and degreasing system to ensure the substrate will readily accept the composite ceramic coating. Coatings are applied electrochemically with ceramic impregnation using an automated system with precise temperature, time, and current controls to achieve an optimal bond.
After coating, parts are cleaned to remove residual chemicals, additional post plate services such as lapping and plateau honing are performed per customer requirements. Parts are inspected using adhesion, micro-thickness, and micro-hardness testing methods according to applicable ASTM specifications. Parts are always packaged in a manner that prevents damage during shipping and in accordance with our quality standards and any customer guidelines. We are ISO 9001:2008 certified and pride ourselves in providing premium quality services with quick turnaround.
